interstuhl has received BIFMA certification for sustainability of furniture for all core products. This means that interstuhl is the first German manufacturer whose products have been distinguished across the range by the BIFMA e3 platinum certification.

With the BIFMA e3 certification, NSF (the American institute for standards, product testing and certification services) and BIFMA (Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer´s Association) have created a meaningful standard for the market that harmonises standards of sustainability for the office furniture industry, and so helps to identify office furniture that is environmentally preferable. This standard allows for several performance levels in order to provide an open alternative for proprietary protocols.

The certification is also available in gold and silver, as well as the highest platinum award. All interstuhl products have been awarded platinum certification. Customers can now determine on the basis of measurable criteria for several performance levels how sustainable and environmentally friendly products are.
