Largest single contract in the history of the company

Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the company, and the 70th birthday of Werner Link, Interstuhl has received the largest single contract in the history of the company - for 19,500 chairs. Construction of the flagship Zayed University in Abu Dhabi began in May 2009, and is due for completion in autumn this year.

Architects for this project are Büro BRT in Hamburg, led by Hadi Teherani. Genius loci -from outside to inside, from architecture through to interior design - Hadi Teherani´s method of working is characterised by a holistic vision. The internationally renowned architect and designer was born in Teheran, and founded Büro BRT Architekten - Bothe Richter Teherani, based in Hamburg in 1991.

There were two important factors in the university´s decision to choose Interstuhl. With such a broad product range, Interstuhl was able to cover all the areas for which solutions were needed. As well as Silver, Xantos and Sputnik, 5 other product ranges were also used. The Interstuhl factory in Tieringen makes us especially well placed to implement even the most unusual and special solutions. One of these was a special wood shell chair, developed for the university with Hadi Teherani, only produced for Zayed University.
